Main Information
"I've seen you before..."

This article features a character that is in both Fundamental Paper Education and Katie's other series.

∆lice is the overarching antagonist of Fundamental Paper Education. She resides in her room, which is located somewhere in Paper School. She is Oliver's childhood friend and girlfriend.

Appearance

Δlice is a seemingly normal girl with short brown messy hair and tan skin with a pointed ahoge atop her head, a white princess tiara, and a black bow on the left side of her head. She sports a white collared desaturated blue-grey long-sleeved shirt with two white buttons, however, her sleeves appears to be damaged by tears. She wears a black necklace with a bronze triangle crossed through by two lines on it.

Her attire is finished with a black tea-length skirt with a white waistband, white semicircle outline designs on the end with dots in between the semicircles, accompanied by white socks and black mary-janes. She appears to have a reddish scar on each leg.

Partially Transformed

While Δlice‘s appearance mostly remains the same, part of her true form shows. Her clothes seem more tattered and ripped. She dons a tattered poncho with a brown patch appearing on the right side of the poncho with a rhombus symbol on it and a bandage wrapped around both of her sleeves. She still has a black bow but on the right side of her head. The white princess tiara changes to a black crown, and a strange red rash appears on the right side of her face. The top part of her face is obscured, thus only one eye is visible.

Six small black tendrils poke out from behind her, one of them wrapped in a bandage. Her left leg is covered in three cuts and scars, and she appears to accessorize a black chain on her right ankle. Her black skirt has two brown patches with a rhombus and stitches. As seen in a few artworks, she also has a bandage wrapped around her chest.

True Form

At the end of Basics in Behavior, Δlice is seen in her true form. She takes on a demonic appearance, pitch black and silhouetted with bright red scleras and black slit pupils. Six large black tendrils poke out from behind her.

She has long black claws, and she also has a long black tail. Additionally, she appears to grow in height, as depicted in official artwork where she is much taller than Oliver and Connor.[2]

Young Appearance

When Δlice was a child, she had short brown hair, tied into pigtails with two black bows that appears to be chipped. Her attire consisted of a white long-sleeved shirt underneath denim overalls. She was seen holding a plush black bunny toy, which looked rather similar to her future pet bunny. She also had rosy cheeks.

Personality

Δlice is aggressive, willing to kill anyone who enters her room. This is seen in Basics in Behavior when Zip and Oliver disguise her room as an exit door to trick Claire. It is possible that Δlice is more dangerous than the teachers, due to how she's locked away and isolated in her room, with "DON'T ENTER" signs on the door. This could also be backed up by the three teacher's reactions to Claire booking it to Δlice's room, as they seem to show signs of fear.

She is seen being passive with Oliver in multiple official artworks,[3] indicating that she might only be nice to those who are close with her.

Background

Basics in Behavior

∆lice makes her debut entirely at the end of Basics in Behavior. After Claire ran into ∆lice's room by mistaking it for the exit, Claire takes a breather for a second, panting in place, before looking around and realizing she wasn't outside of the school.

Soon after this, Claire looks infront of her, and spots ∆lice in the distance, glaring at her, which in turn causes Claire's eyes to widen in surprise upon seeing ∆lice. Immediately after Claire notices her, ∆lice stomps her foot down onto the ground, causing a barrage of black spikes to come out of the ground infront of her, heading towards Claire.

Claire narrowly manages to dodge the spikes by jumping into the air, tears prickling at the corners of her eyes. Soon after the attack, ∆lice jumps on the other black spikes located in her room, before jumping up into the air and swinging one of her clawed hands at Claire, with her claws successfully slashing across Claire's face, causing Claire to fall out of the air and harshly hit the floor.

Soon after this, Claire quickly gets up, a big slash seen across her eye, as ∆lice jumps down onto the ground infront of her, a total of three black tendrils now coming out of ∆lice's back. Soon after landing, ∆lice jumps into the air, and attempts to pounce on Claire, which Claire narrowly avoids, as Claire quickly runs out of ∆lice's room, with ∆lice quickly following behind.

Multiple shots of the school turning from paper to normal begin to play in the video, the change startling Miss Emily who was teaching her class. Miss Circle, Miss Bloomie, and Miss Thavel are also nervous, Miss Circle trying to cover her nervousness up with a silly expression, Miss Thavel looking panicked, and Miss Bloomie just looking guilty while scratching the back of her head.

The video cuts back to Claire and ∆lice, as Claire bursts goes through a double door in the school, with ∆lice soon after bursting through the doors, and swinging one of her clawed hands at Claire, which Claire manages to dodge. ∆lice tries it again, only for the same result, making ∆lice switch tactics, as she teleports soon after Claire gets out of the camera's view.

The video cuts to Claire running down a hallway, before glancing behind her, the video cutting to behind Claire where ∆lice was, with ∆lice transforming into her True Form and crawling across the floor of the hallway. Claire eventually reaches the real exit door, and attempts to open it, only to realize the exit is locked, causing Claire to turn around, as she stares up at ∆lice in her True Form slowly walking towards her.

∆lice unclenches her hand, revealing her claws, before the video cuts to black, Claire being killed off-screen by ∆lice.

Trivia

  • Oliver and ∆lice have both studied at university before. They are also not students at Paper School.[4]
  • Everyone, including the teachers, appears to fear ∆lice, however, Oliver and Kevin are currently the only two who do not.
  • The rhombus symbol on ∆lice's right sleeve also appears on Oliver's shirt, indicating some sort of connection between them.
    • ∆iden also has the "∆" symbol in her name like ∆lice, hinting at yet another connection.
  • ∆lice and Connor are the only characters to have appeared in the paper universe that do not have a paper variant of themselves.
  • Agetha is the only known character who can overpower her.
  • ∆lice previously had the most abilities out of any character, at a whopping eighteen. But Agetha took that title with her having twenty one abilities.
