Engel is the deuteragonist of Basics in Behavior and a character featured in Fundamental Paper Education. He attends Paper School as a student.

Appearance

Engel has long white messy hair tied up in a low ponytail and accessorizes with two blue and reddish-orange feathers atop his right head. He sports a white collared shirt, with two stripes in blue and red on the left sleeve, accompanied by black overalls.

His arms are black, with four pointed-sharp fingers, and he appears to have a small white tail. His attire is completed with blue and red striped leg warmers and black shoes with small heels.

In his reference sheet, he wields a magnifying glass.

Alternative Appearance (Young)

Engel's child's alternative appearance shares many similar details to his normal appearance. His messy hair is a reddish-orange shade and is tied up into a low ponytail. He sports a dark orange Tyrolean hat on his head, with two feathers on it, one being blue, the other being reddish-orange.

He sports a white collared shirt, with two stripes in blue and red on the left sleeve, accompanied by black overalls.

Engel seems to be kind and caring, willing to go to extreme measures to protect those he cares for. This is shown in Basics in Behavior when he befriends Claire and then later is willing to risk his life to save her from Miss Circle.

Background

Basics in Behavior

Engel first appears at the start of the video, being seen talking to Bubble in the hallway. He later appears in Miss Circle's classroom, glancing over at Oliver, Zip, and Edward in annoyance after seeing them throwing paper objects at Claire. He briefly appears at the pool room, looking at a fish tank before turning around and waving at the camera.

He is then seen showing Claire the library, then sitting and chatting with her on a table, before she is abruptly picked up by Edward’s drone and tossed down a pit. Engel later appears in the episode to protect Claire, stopping Miss Circle's compass as she’s about to kill Claire, giving her time to run. He is then thrown against the wall, causing his right eye to turn red and bleed black ink. Upon seeing Claire’s corpse, he is distraught seeing her in such a horrific state.

Trivia

• In the showcase image, Engel has two buttons on his overalls, but in Basics in Behavior, those buttons are not present.
  • Additionally, the two stripes on his sleeve sometimes appear black, another possible animation error.
